On Saturday First Network provided AV and presentation services for the Oxford v. Cambridge Boat Race

2018 marked the 164th annual event and it was the fourth time that First Network have been involved.

Our teams were stationed at boat clubs in Putney and Mortlake – the start and finish of the race –  where they provided lighting, backdrop, staging and a 6 speaker audio system with digital mixer and radio mics. A 3.5m x 2m LED display relayed images from boat race to the venue and the sponsors logos were featured on bespoke branded entrance carpet, stair risers, registration desks and welcome pod.

Former BBC Broadcaster Bill Turnbull compared the event.

The races were as gripping as ever: Cambridge University enjoyed a clean sweep with both the men and women’s teams storming to victory against their Oxford rivals. The light blue women’s crew raced into an early lead and extended that advantage throughout the course, adding another win to last year’s 11-length triumph.

In the second race the Cambridge men’s crew crossed the line nearly four lengths clear.

Putney-raised cox Sophie Shapter described guiding Cambridge to victory in the women’s Boat Race as “a dream come true”.

The weather was a little damp but spirits were high and we thoroughly enjoyed the day.
